Director/writer Johannes Roberts starts off the new exclusive clip released online today with the very clear declaration that the new film reboot will be a faithful adaptation of the popular Resident Evil video games, namely the first two installments that focus on Chris Redfield at the manor (the original RE game) and his sister Claire Redfield coming to Raccoon City to find her brother. The clip isn't necessarily new footage, but rather emphasizes how the movie borrows sparingly from the games to truly create the game series.
This is obviously being done to dispel worries that the new film will repeat the major issues of Paul W.S. Anderson's critically=panned (yet commercially successful) saga that didn't even focus on a character from the game but rather a new character named Alice (Played by his wife, Milla Jovovich) who dealt with apocalyptic plots that had nothing to do with the events of the game. As the new clip shows, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is looking to break that pattern and deliver the kind of film fans of the game have wanted since the late-1990's. Check it out below:
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen, Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Donal Logue, and Neal McDonough. It is set to be released in theaters on November 24th.
