While many were hoping for announcement that Mindhunter would get a season 3 renewal, as it turns out Fincher is actually working on a docuseries at Netflix who have been funding many of Fincher's recent projects including his his Oscar-contender, Mank, last year. This new project, however, is all about Fincher's love of pure cinema, something he has consciously and unconsciously fought for ever since his hell that was the production of Alien 3 in which he refused to work on a major studio film again (something he stuck to including dropping out of a World War Z sequel). Mank was a prime example of this ideology, about the constant fight between art and business. And now, Netflix has posted on their Twitter a teaser for his series VOIR, a documentary series of "visual essays celebrating cinema." Check it out below:
The docuseries is set to premiere at AFI Fest in November, but has yet to get a premiere date on Netflix though it's said to be around the time it premieres at AFI Fest.
Fincher used to be a talented director. Se7en, The Game, Fight Club, panic room. Then he just became mediocre.
One the one hand it sounds pretty pretentious. On the other hand Fincher is pretty based.
