Less than a month from finally being released, CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will be delayed a little longer. Originally set to be released on November 19th, the game will now be released on December 10th. The developer released the following letter in a Twitter post:
While this is not the first time the game has been delayed (It was originally set to be released in September), the last minute delay this time seems to be related to making sure the game will be good for various platforms it will be available for. As of now, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to be released for all available platforms, current and next-gen. This includes PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Stadia. Zooming in on this part of the letter below, the reason for this last minute delay has to do with that range of platforms the game will play for:
“The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it. Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly.”
Hopefully, this will be the last delay and the game will be everything it's been promised to be. Stay tuned!
