During the Game Awards last night, several game announcements were made, but one of the more shocking ones was the announcement of a sequel to the 2015 game Ark: Survival Evolved as well as an animated series that has an impressive voice cast. Like the first game, both the sequel game and the series will follow players/characters who must survive being stranded on an island filled with roaming dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, natural hazards, and potentially hostile human players. However, unlike the first game, the sequel and the series seem to have specific characters this time, unlike custom characters players had in the first game.
Even more shocking, both the show and the game seem to be led by Vin Diesel, at least as indicated by him appearing in both the world premiere trailer for the game and the trailer for the animated series as the character Santiago. While he seems to be the focus of the sequel game's story, the animated series is confirmed to focus on another character named Helena. Check them both out below. First, the world premiere for the game, simply titled Ark II:
And the trailer for Ark: The Animated Series:
While Diesel is featured in both the game and the show, the show will also feature the voices of Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, Michelle Yeoh, Jeffrey Wright, David Tennant, Karl Urban, Elliot Page, Malcom McDowell, Alan Tudyk, Zach McClarnon, Madeline Madden, Ron Yuan, Devery Jacobs, Ragga Ragnars, Juliet Mills and Aussie TV royalty Debora Mailman. In addition, several photos were released on the game's Twitter account:
No official release dates have been announced for either, but both are expected to be featured on newer consoles. Stay tuned!

“Dune” is by far the best movie I’ve ever made. My team and I devoted more than three years of our lives to make it a unique big screen experience. Our movie’s image and sound were meticulously designed to be seen in theaters.
I’m speaking on my own behalf, though I stand in solidarity with the sixteen other filmmakers who now face the same fate. Please know I am with you and that together we are strong. The artists are the ones who create movies and series.
I strongly believe the future of cinema will be on the big screen, no matter what any Wall Street dilettante says. Since the dawn of time, humans have deeply needed communal storytelling experiences.…
