Apple's "Platonic" Reunites Byrne, Rogen

Last time Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne worked together, it was in the Nick Stoller-directed film Neighbors which was followed up with Neighbors 2. And now, Rogen will join Byrne on the small screen for the Apple TV+ series Platonic. For Rogen, it's a return home to the media he got his start in when he co-starred long ago in Judd Apatow's cult hit show Freaks & Geeks. For Byrne it's more business-as-usual. Not only was she on TV earlier this year in Cate Blanchett's Mrs. America, but she's one of the few actors who has managed to jump back-and-forth between television and film given her first big role was co-starring in the acclaimed show Damages which ran from 2007 to 2012. In any case, while Byrne is more at home at TV than Rogen, Platonic is definitely in the common realm of stories Rogen often takes on.

Ordered for a ten-episode first season, Platonic sees Byrne and Rogen star as a pair of former best childhood friends who reconnect as adults and try to mend the rift that led to their falling out. However, as their friendship reforms, their lives begin to destabilize.

Stoller will direct from scripts that he will co-write with Francesca Delbanco. Both will also serve as executive producers alongside, Rogen, Byrne, and Conor Welch. Stay tuned!
