Sorry to get anyone's hopes up, but no this is not the confirmation of the expected sequel to Rian Johnson's hit whodunnit film Knives Out. No, what Amazon Studios is planning to produce is actually a film adaptation of the 2015 spy thriller novel All the Old Knives, an acclaimed piece of work from author Olen Steinhauer. The project though has been in development since 2014, originally with Neil Burger originally set to direct. This new iteration, which Steinhauer himself adapted the screenplay for, will see Janus Metz at the helm while Chris Pine and Thandie Newton will take the lead on-camera.
Pine and Newton will play two former lovers by the name of Henry and Celia, respectively. Henry is a CIA agent posted in Vienna and Celia has been retired from the agency for five years. They choose to reunite for dinner one night in Carmel-by-the-Sea where, as dinner progresses, things turn sinister as they begin to talk about an infamous plane hijacking which left all onboard dead and is considered the Vienna station’s greatest failure to date.
Steve Schwartz, Paula Mae Schwartz, and Nick Wechsler will produce for Chockstone and eOne. Stay tuned!
Sounds boring aka Chris Pine
